Various REDIPlus dialog boxes and monitors require the key entry of one or more symbols. REDIPlus facilitates this process in four ways:
You can set Symbol properties through the REDIPlus Application
bar. Select the Menu
icon and then Symbol,
and a sub-menu appears with the following items: Symbology,
MatchSymbol,
and AddSymbol.
Symbology – enables you to assign Symbology by security type. When you select Symbology, the Symbology dialog box appears. Select a Security Type (e.g., AMEX, CBOT, GLOBAL, NYSE), and then select the appropriate Symbology (e.g., US Symbol, Bloomberg ID, Reuters Instrument Code, SEDOL); the US Symbol Symbology defaults. Repeat this process until the appropriate Symbology has been assigned to each Security Type. When finished, click [OK].
Match Symbol – enables REDIPlus to match a symbol in your current drop-down list against a value you enter (given sufficient specificity), and populate that value in the Symbol field. For example, if IBM is in your current drop-down list, you can enter “I” (assuming there are no other symbols beginning with “I”) and IBM will be matched and populated. This option is selected by default; you can clear it to disable the Match Symbol functionality.
Add Symbol – enables REDIPlus to capture the values you enter in the Symbol field as part of the drop-down list. You can then select the values when needed. This option is selected by default; you can click it to disable the Add Symbol functionality.
