Indicators Tab |
The Indicators tab enables you to select the Indicators that you want to apply to the Chart Monitor, configure (edit) Indicators, create your own Indicators based on the standard Indicators (i.e., Indicators that are provided in the Chart Monitor by default) listed below, and delete those Indicators you create.
The Chart Monitor defaults a Price Chart pane and a Volume Study pane/tab based on the Symbol or Index, Duration, and Frequency you enter on the Toolbar. You can apply two types of standard Indicators: Overlay and Study. For a general description of each Indicator, a representative depiction of a chart resulting from its application, and definitions of the corresponding Indicator parameters that can be modified, see Overlay Indicators and Study Indicators below.
The Orders and Executions options are also on the Indicator drop-down list, but are not considered Indicators and cannot be selected, configured, etc. through the Indicators tab. See the Chart Monitor topic for more information.
The Indicator tab is only applicable to the Chart Monitor, and is therefore only available on the Chart Monitor’s Properties dialog box.
Right-click the Chart Monitor, select Properties from the shortcut menu, and the Properties dialog box appears.
Click the Indicators tab.
Select the checkboxes corresponding to the Indicators that you want to display on the Chart Monitor in the Indicators list box.
See the Overlay Indicators and Study Indicators topics for a description of each Indicator and its parameters.
Determine whether you want the REDIPlus to adjust the rolling periods considered in the average calculation for each Indicator by selecting or clearing the Hist. Intra-day checkbox. When the Hist. Intra-day checkbox is selected, the rolling periods for charts with Historical durations (>= 10 days) will always be calculated in days, and the rolling periods for charts with Intra-day durations (< 10 days) will be based on the value you select from the Frequency drop-down list box on the Toolbar (e.g., ticks, minutes, hours, days). When the Hist. Intra-day checkbox is cleared, no adjustment is made for charts with Intra-day durations (i.e., the rolling periods will still be based on days).
When finished, click [OK].
Right-click the Chart Monitor, select Properties from the shortcut menu, and the Properties dialog box appears.
Click the Indicators tab.
Select the Indicator you want to configure from the Indicators list box, click [Edit], and an Edit Indicator dialog box corresponding to the Indicator you selected appears.
You can select and configure an Indicator without it being displayed on the Chart Monitor by clicking the Indicator name, and then [Edit]. If you want to configure the Indicator and add have it display on the Chart Monitor, select it by clicking the corresponding checkbox, and then [Edit].
Configure the Parameters to change the characteristics of the Indicator; see the Overlay Indicators and Study Indicators topics for a description of each Indicator and its parameters.
The Name
and Type fields in the Indicator
group box specify the Indicator you selected. The Type
field displays the standard Indicator (i.e., an Indicator that is provided
in the Chart Monitor by default) on which the Indicator is based. Therefore,
when you configure a standard Indicator, both fields contain the same
information.
While you cannot edit the Indicator Name
and Type fields of an existing
Indicator, you can create and save an Indicator (based on an existing
one) with a different name, and configure the parameters differently;
see the To create a new Indicator
topic for more information.
When finished, click [OK] to return to the Indicators tab; you can then select another Indicator to configure, or click [OK].
Right-click the Chart Monitor, select Properties from the shortcut menu, and the Properties dialog box appears.
Click the Indicators tab.
Click [New], and the Add New Indicator: dialog box appears.
Enter the Name of the Indicator, and select the standard Indicator on which the new Indicator will be based from the Type drop-down list box. The Parameters group box is populated based on the Type you select.
Configure the Parameters as necessary.
When finished, click [OK].
Right-click the Chart Monitor, select Properties from the shortcut menu, and the Properties dialog box appears.
Click the Indicators tab.
Select the Indicator you want to delete from the Indicators list box, click [Delete], and the Indicator is removed.
You cannot delete standard Indicators, only the new Indicators you have created.
Repeat as necessary. When finished, click [OK].
