The Order Entry dialog box provides you with a quick and easy way to submit orders. The basic order entry process can be completed on the General tab alone; five other tabs (e.g., Advanced, Special, Memo, Exec Instr, and Scale), while optional, provide you with additional order entry flexibility. See the individual Order Entry dialog box tab topics for order processing information.
Besides accessing the Order Entry dialog box directly from the REDIPlus Application bar, a populated Order Entry dialog box is generated by REDIPlus when you select data from within various monitors. The Order Entry fields that are populated and whether you can enter a new order or update an existing order depends on the data selected. For example:
You can double-click a Level 2 quote in the Montage Monitor. If you click an Ask price, the Order Entry dialog box will appear with a Buy order; if you click a Bid price, the Order Entry dialog box will appear with a Sell order. The size and price of the Bid/Ask you select will determine the Price and Quantity populated in the Order Entry dialog box.
You can double-click an item listed in the Quote Monitor. If you click an Ask price, the Order Entry dialog box will appear with a Buy Limit order at the Ask price; if you click a Bid price, the Order Entry dialog box will appear with a Sell Limit order at the Bid price; if you click a symbol, the Order Entry dialog box will appear with a Market order. The quantity, in all instances, will be your default value. See the Modifying Order Entry Dialog Box Defaults topic for more information.
You can double-click a position in the Position Monitor, and the Order Entry dialog box appears with an order for you to close out the position.
