Toolbar

The Toolbar includes the following drop-down list boxes:

View drop-down list box - select a view based on how you want data displayed in the Summary pane of Portfolio Trader. Columns vary based on the view selected.

Trade List drop-down list box - enables you to view individual or aggregate Trade List List of your execution goals consisting of buy or sell orders for specific securities and quantities. detail in the Summary pane; select a Trade List from among those you've imported or view detail for All Lists (defaults). Select the Lock Filter button to protect your selection when you switch between layouts.

Layout drop-down list box - you can easily switch between Portfolio Trader layouts that have been saved through the Properties dialog box’s Layout tab; see the Layout Tab topic for more information about saving custom layouts.

The following Toolbar buttons for commonly used functions are available in Portfolio Trader by default. You can add additional buttons to the Toolbar through the Properties dialog box’s Commands tab; see the Commands Tab topic.

Save Layout - saves the current Portfolio Trader configuration by overwriting the layout that is currently selected in the Layout drop-down list box or the default layout.

Cancel All Selected - cancels all currently open orders corresponding to the row(s) selected in the Summary pane.

Move to Quote - moves the price of all open Buy and Sell orders corresponding to the row(s) selected in the Summary or Order Detail View pane to the NBBO A term applying to the SEC requirement that brokers must guarantee customers the best available ask price when they buy securities and the best available bid price when they sell securities. as Limit orders An order placed with a brokerage to buy or sell a predetermined amount of shares at a specified price, or better than the specified price..

Move +/- - moves the price of all open Buy orders corresponding to the row(s) selected in the Summary or Order Detail View pane to .01 above the current Bid price and all open Sell orders .01 below the current Ask price.

Move to Mid Passive - moves the price of all open orders corresponding to the row(s) selected in the Summary or Order Detail View pane to the midpoint of the Bid/Ask spread, plus or minus one tick (i.e., one tick closer to either the Bid or the Ask), depending on the Side of the order. For example:

  • Given a Buy order with 10.00 – 10.04 spread, 10.02 is the mid-point, so the price moves to 10.01.

  • Given a Sell order with 10.00 – 10.04 spread, 10.02 is the mid-point, so the price moves to 10.03.

Move to Mid Aggressive - moves the price of all open orders corresponding to the row(s) selected in the Summary or Order Detail View pane to the midpoint of the Bid/Ask spread, plus or minus one tick (i.e., one tick closer to either the Bid or the Ask), depending on the Side of the order. For example::

  • Given a Buy order with 10.00 – 10.04 spread, 10.02 is the mid-point, so the price moves to 10.03.

  • Given a Sell order with 10.00 – 10.04 spread, 10.02  is the mid-point, so the price moves to 10.01.

Move to Last Trade - moves the price of all open orders corresponding to the row(s) selected in the Summary or Order Detail View pane to the respective last executed Bid price.

Move to Marketable Limit - moves the price of all open Buy orders corresponding to the row(s) selected in the Summary or Order Detail View pane to the Ask Limit price, and all open Sell orders to the Bid Limit price.

Move to Market - moves the price of all open orders corresponding to the row(s) selected in the Summary or Order Detail View pane to the market price.

List Adjustment - opens the List Adjustment dialog box, where you can add or remove goals from a Trade List. You can facilitate the List Adjustment process by selecting existing goals from the Summary pane or orders from the Order Detail View pane before accessing the List Adjustment dialog box; parameter fields will be populated based on your selection, where applicable. Import List - opens the Import Trade List wizard, where you can import Trade List data from an existing file or the clipboard. See the To import a Trade List topic for more information.

Reduce Goal - opens the Reduce Goal dialog box, through which you can purge goals corresponding to the Trade List row(s) selected in the Summary pane, reducing the number of goal shares to zero. Open orders corresponding to the row(s) selected will not be canceled, and filled shares remain untouched as well. See the To Purge Goals topic for more information.

Wave - opens the Wave dialog box, where you can create a new Wave corresponding to the row(s) selected in the Summary pane. See the To Submit a Wave topic for more information.

Strike - opens the Strike dialog box, where you can configure the type of Strike price to be applied to the goals you selected in the Summary pane.

Lock Orders - protects the orders you select in the Summary pane or the Order Detail View pane from being updated/canceled.

Unlock Orders - unlocks the locked orders you select in the Summary pane or Order Detail View pane (i.e., the unlocked orders can now be updated/canceled.

Reject Tool - opens the Reject dialog box, where you can view the reject messages for rejected orders corresponding to the row(s) selected in the Summary pane or the Order Detail View pane.

Reset Query - resets Portfolio Trader by removing any query, as well as any filter and/or sorting that you have applied. For information about queries, see the Query Tab topic.

Filter by Selection - you can manually filter the data displayed by selecting a specific value from one of the columns in the Summary pane (e.g., List, Industry, Side, etc.) and clicking the Filter by Selection button. Only those rows with the same value in the same column will be displayed.

Remove Filter - removes the filter that you created by clicking the Filter by Selection button.

Help - opens a Help topic relative to Portfolio Trader.
